Mapping the IFU to the FIF

After enthusiastically starting the process of mapping the IFU to the FIF late last night, the NIR team wisely decided to stand down & continue today, rather than doing such delicate work at the end of a very long day.

Here's Mike with the object & sky bundles mounted in the crafty little rocker mechanism that attaches to the FIF jaws.  The rocker is designed to tilt the bundles as their separation increases, so as to preserve telecentricity.

The rocker attaches to the separation stage of the FIF, below where the 4 pairs of HRS fibres are mounted.

Here's the view from the other side.

Meanwhile, Jonathan's been busy getting the hatch for the new calsys bay ready for installation next week.
