A Huge week coming up!

The NIR fibre cable installation will start on Monday morning & if all goes well, the IFU should get routed through the rho wrap on the tracker on Tuesday.  While that's happening up at the top, work will also be underway at the other end, attaching the strain-relief boxes to the enclosure, routing the fibres into the enclosure & then populating the slit with the V-groove blocks containing all the fibres.  When all that's done, they'll cool the enclosure & cross fingers for good weather, so that we can go on-sky & hopefully sneak in first-light before the UW team leaves on Friday!

The currently empty slit - due to get fibred up soon!

As if that's not enough excitement, a crew from Japan will also be on site to install the new 1.8-m PRIME telescope a few doors down on the plateau.  Soon there will be a large new telescope on this concrete pier!

& soon this space will get filled up too...

It really is All Happening up here, & just in time for a return visit from our interns, with some extra classmates in tow this time!
