Sneaking out of town just ahead of our first big winter storm of the year, Petri & Encarni dashed up to SALT yesterday to meet NIR (while it's not at -40C)... Appropriately wowed by the gorgeous instrument, & having attended the weekly Ops meeting from the SALT control room this afternoon, they're driving back to a thoroughly saturated Cape Town tonight.

The hugely exciting news from Wisconsin is that the science fibre cable testing has been successfully completed in the lab! The team over there is packing everything up now & expecting the box to be collected tomorrow for air-freighting to SA - hopefully set to arrive within a week... Unpacking THAT will be another very big day!
