After what's felt like an interminable wait, punctuated with numerous heart-stopping paperwork & logistical surprises, the NIR container finally cleared customs on Wednesday & was picked up by the transport company yesterday. The truck left Cape Town at 2am today & appeared at SALT just before 8am on an exceeeeedingly crisp Karoo morning!

One of the resident black eagles even did a pass shortly before the truck left, checking out the new arrival on the plateau - surely a wonderful omen for our new spectrograph!
